Top Ten Tips to Save $$ on Food #8 – Friends

I have a friend who is also a family of six so she TOTALLY gets saving money on food. We often share deals with one another and have a similar outlook on keeping it as naturally as we can. She told me about tip #3 and we often do tip #5 together. Besides those two tips is a tip all it’s own. Splitting with friends.
Splitting with friends means you can buy in larger quantities which will generally mean more savings. Sometimes buying in bulk is the only way to get a good deal on some items but even with larger families there are just certain things that won’t get consumed fast enough.
We’ve bought 50 pounds of carrots, 50 pounds of bananas, 80 pounds of peaches, and well you get the idea. We preserved these items together too. Having a friend to can things with is immensely helpful because getting the skins off 80 pounds of peaches by oneself is not the best of times. Trust me. I’ve done it on my own before and it hardly seems worth it. As the saying goes many hands make light work. If we had a bigger space and a few more friends we could really go to town. Goals for later.
Do you have friends you partner up with? Let me know in the comments.
